Sophie Rose is a curator and arts writer working on Gadigal Country. She is currently Assistant Curator, International Art at the Art Gallery of NSW.

Sophie has held previous positions as Assistant Curator at the Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA) and Associate Curator - Programs at Artspace, Sydney, where she oversaw the organisation’s Studio Program, public programs, and outreach. Additionally, she has contributed to exhibitions, programs, and publications at MoMA PS1, SITE Santa Fe International, and the Hessel Museum of Art. Alongside her curatorial practice, Sophie has contributed critical and scholarly writing for publications such as e-flux Journal, Australian and New Zealand Journal of Art, Art Asia Pacific, and Un Magazine. She is the editor of Glot: Four Conversations on Voice (2024) and a forthcoming monograph on the artist, poet, and composer JJJJJerome Ellis (2026). In 2022, she was awarded a John Monash Scholarship to support her MA at the Center for Curatorial Studies, Bard College.

Having worked across multiple platforms—exhibitions, collections, publications, programs, and residencies—she approaches contemporary art spaces as sites for research, dialogue, and collective encounters.
